Wesfarmers Health acquired SILK Group, one of the major providers of non-surgical medical aesthetics services in Australia and New Zealand, in the 2024 financial year.
The SILK Group brands include SILK Laser Clinics, Australian Skin Clinics and Clear Skincare.
Following the acquisition, Wesfarmers Health started the process to embed ethical sourcing practices across the SILK Group brands. Priority has been given to embedding modern slavery clauses in key supplier contracts. These clauses are crucial in articulating Wesfarmers Health’s expectations regarding human rights and ensure alignment with suppliers who share a commitment to protecting worker rights across the supply chain.
A review of contractual arrangements for SILK Group’s own-brand goods for resale and own-brand goods not for resale (such as uniforms) conducted in 2025 identified opportunity for continuous improvement. Building on this review and the human rights risk management undertaken by the SILK Group prior to the acquisition, new supplier agreement templates were developed in 2025, incorporating modern slavery clauses for use in future transactions with both goods suppliers and service providers.
For supplier contracts due for renewal, the SILK Group has committed to using these new supplier agreement templates with modern slavery clauses. In cases where the supplier contracts are still current and valid, SILK Group plans to use a modern slavery amendment to supplement the existing trading terms.
During the 2025 financial year, SILK Group used the new supplier contract templates with a small number of local and overseas suppliers. These contract terms enable Wesfarmers Health to better manage and respond to the human rights risks in the supply chain.
Wesfarmers Health intends to systematically continue the roll out of the ethical sourcing program requirements with SILK Group’s suppliers in the 2026 financial year to address the areas of highest risk.
