In the 2024 financial year, Wesfarmers Health set a target to be net zero across Scopes 1 and 2 (market-based) emissions by 2035. To achieve this, Wesfarmers Health committed to 100 per cent renewable electricity for new fulfilment and distribution centres as a near-term target.
Australian Pharmaceutical Industries (API)
Approximately two-thirds of Wesfarmers Health’s electricity usage occurs in its seven API fulfilment and distribution centres across Australia. In recognition of this, and in line with its near-term climate ambition, Wesfarmers Health has prioritised carbon abatement initiatives at its new fulfilment centres, the Sydney Fulfilment Centre (“SFC”) and Brisbane Fulfilment Centre (“BFC”).
The SFC has a 1.0 megawatt rooftop solar array went live in September 2024. Since then, the system now generates over 29 per cent of the site’s electricity usage. Since January 2025, the site’s remaining electricity needs have been powered by a 100 per cent renewable power purchase agreement (PPA).
The BFC has a 0.5 megawatt rooftop solar array has been installed and is expected to go live later this calendar year. Since January 2025, the site has also been powered by a 100 per cent renewable PPA.
New distribution centres are expected to be commissioned in Cairns, Queensland in the second half of calendar year 2025, Adelaide, South Australia in calendar year 2026 and Perth, Western Australia in calendar year 2027. There are plans to install rooftop solar arrays at each of these new facilities to continue Wesfarmers Health’s progress towards both its near-term and long-term climate targets.
Priceline company owned stores
In the 2025 financial year, Wesfarmers Health took measures to understand the key drivers of electricity usage in its retail sites through an energy efficiency audit.
From the results, Wesfarmers Health developed Sustainable Store Design Guidelines that outline design considerations when developing new stores.
These guidelines will be considered when new Priceline company owned stores are added to the network.
