Our approach to clinical governance puts systems, processes and reporting in place to support our teams delivering high-quality care, monitoring outcomes, learning from experience and continuously improving. We set compliance standards that are overseen by our Clinical Governance Advisory Council.
Our Clinical Governance Advisory Council comprises experts with deep knowledge across our clinical service areas, healthcare management, regulatory compliance and operations. The Council provides oversight and strategic guidance to support Wesfarmers Health deliver patient-centred, high-quality care with a commitment to access, equity and choice across primary care, cardiometabolic screening, prescription and complementary medicines, wellbeing, and beauty and medical aesthetics.

Adjunct Professor Debora Picone AO is Chair of Wesfarmers Health’s Clinical Governance Advisory Council. She was Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care from 2012 to 2022, where she led the development of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards that govern accreditation for all Australian healthcare services.
A registered nurse by training, Professor Picone has extensive leadership experience across clinical practice, governance and health administration. She served as Director-General of NSW Health from 2007 to 2011, leading major health system reforms. She currently chairs the Health Technology Assessment Review Reference Committee and has served three terms on AHPRA’s governance body.
Professor Picone was awarded Officer of the Order of Australia for her service to public administration and her coordination of improvements to the safety and quality of healthcare.
Associate Professor Amanda Walker is a highly respected palliative care physician with extensive experience in clinical leadership and healthcare quality improvement.
As former Clinical Director at the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care, Professor Walker led the development of national clinical care standards, including Australia’s first Acute Anaphylaxis Clinical Care Standard. She led pivotal work on improving care at the end of life and reducing diagnostic errors across Australian healthcare settings.
Professor Walker previously led state-wide quality improvement programs at the NSW Clinical Excellence Commission, developing the PREPARED Model for advance care planning and programs addressing diagnostic error. She serves as Vice-Chair of ANZA-SIDM, the Australasian Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine, and currently works as Clinical Advisor in Safety and Quality at eHealth NSW, embedding safety principles into digital health systems.
Ms Cobie McQueen is a highly regarded Franchise Partner at Priceline Pharmacy Horsham in Victoria, where she has established a benchmark for pharmacy excellence in regional Australia. Her store has won national Store of the Year honours twice (2015 and 2019), and she was named Priceline Pharmacist of the Year in 2016.
A passionate advocate for regional healthcare access, Ms McQueen serves as a Board Member of Women’s Health Grampians, contributing to initiatives that advance women’s health equity and address healthcare disparities in rural communities. She actively champions improved access to specialist pain management and mental health services in regional areas.
Ms McQueen holds a pharmacy degree from La Trobe University and an MBA from Deakin Business School. She has led innovations in pharmacy practice including implementation of SafeScript real-time prescription monitoring and digital health technologies to enhance patient safety and care delivery.
Her pharmacy maintains strong community partnerships, supporting local organisations, sporting clubs, and vulnerable community members through initiatives with Rotary Club of Horsham East and the Christian Emergency Food Centre. Ms McQueen regularly presents on medication safety and health topics throughout the Wimmera region.
Dr Tony Bartone is an experienced General Practitioner (GP) and recipient of the 2025 AMA Gold Medal—the AMA’s highest honour—for his exemplary leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As Federal President of the Australian Medical Association from 2018 to 2020, Dr Bartone led the profession through the bushfire emergency and COVID-19 crisis. He played a pivotal role in developing the federal government’s $2.4 billion health response package and was instrumental in establishing Medicare-funded telehealth services, fundamentally transforming healthcare access for all Australians. His advocacy also significantly impacted the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.
Dr Bartone continues to work in general practice in Melbourne’s northern suburbs, with specialty interests in men’s health, mental health counselling, care coordination of complex chronic illness, and aged care. He holds a medical degree from the University of Melbourne (1984), Fellowship of the RACGP (1990), and an MBA with First Class Honours from Melbourne Business School (2004).
Dr Bartone served as President of AMA Victoria (2014-2016), Federal AMA Vice President (2016-2018), and was awarded Fellowship of the AMA in 2016. He has served on numerous Federal AMA councils and committees since 2008.
Professor Greg Goodman is an internationally renowned dermatologist with more than 40 years’ experience and was the first surgeon to perform Mohs micrographic surgery in Victoria.
Professor Goodman was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2021 for significant service to medicine, skin and cancer research, and education. He co-founded the Skin Health Institute in 1987, served as its Chief of Surgery and former President, and founded and leads the Australasian Society of Cosmetic Dermatologists (ASCD) as President since 2015.
He holds academic appointments as Adjunct Professor at Monash University and Associate Professor at University College London, with a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) in post-acne scarring. As a recognised international expert in acne scarring, he developed the global acne scarring classification system. He serves as Head of Taskforce for the Australasian College of Dermatologists in higher education in Cosmetic Dermatology, where he has trained registrars and fellows.
Professor Goodman has authored or co-authored more than 90 publications in leading journals and serves as Associate Editor of the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology and International Contributing Editor of the Journal of Dermatologic Surgery. He lectures internationally on skin ageing, acne scarring, lasers, and cosmetic dermatology, and received the American Society for Dermatological Surgery’s President’s Award for Outstanding Contribution in Teaching and Research in 2012.
His specialty interests include skin cancers, Mohs micrographic surgery, lasers in dermatology, complications with cosmetic treatments, cosmetic dermatology, and acne and post-acne scarring treatment.
